What could be better than a splendid natural sports arena on the most beautiful beaches of the Bay of Paimpol? The Fit Océan team are ready to show us an activity that combines aqua-toning, aqua-jogging, cardio-training and aqua-gym.
Sessions all year round
There are about 30 of us in the magnificent setting of Old Bréhec beach, which is almost deserted at this early hour, for an invigorating session. After a hearty breakfast, we join a lively little group led by lifeguard Eve. The aqua-fitness sessions are offered winter and summer alike. The cheerful group of participants, aged from 10 to 84, is a mix of holidaymakers and regulars. Aquagym in the sea is physical, but at Fit Océan everyone can work at their own pace. Let yourself be tempted and leave your cares on land!
Good for mind and body
We start with a warm-up circle. Everyone starts to move, stretches their joints, takes in the energy of the sea. Arms raised, we’re ready to welcome the beneficial effects of the negative ions we’re going to breathe in, and we enter the water. The water glides off our wetsuits, then our hands, creating resistance and working our arms and shoulders.
Standing in the water, facing and welcoming the morning sun, we tone up and gain strength, feeling the stress leave our bodies. From time to time, the ocean waves play games with us: we have to try to keep our balance and stay in the same place. The setting is unique and the benefits for mind and body are all the greater for it. Moving in the water enables the body to be more toned and to build muscle gently. Aquatic fitness also improves blood flow, muscle tone and strengthens the immune system.
A well-earned treat
At the end of the session we leave the water, having saved the best till last. After the obligatory stretches we head for a well-earned coffee organised by our instructor, Eve. The session has invoked a delicious sense of tiredness. Thanks to Eve’s energy, motivation has stayed high. Fit Océan ensures that everyone exercises with a smile.
